How do notifications work?

Short answer

Reminders arrive at most twice a day, never between midnight and 6 AM, and you can turn on quiet hours

How many you'll get

You get at most 2 notifications a day. That way they stay helpful, not annoying.

When they arrive

Notifications never send between midnight and 6 AM. That's always quiet time.

You can set up extra quiet hours in Settings. Go to Notifications, then turn on Quiet hours and pick your times.

What kinds you'll get

  • Daily reminders: a reminder to read at a time you pick
  • Streak alerts: a heads-up when your streak is about to end
  • Comeback nudges: encouragement if you miss a day
  • Night lock alerts: a reminder before your night lock turns on
  • Weekly recap: a look at your week
  • Other updates: news about keeping the app free, if you turned that on

Can I turn some off?

Yes. Open Settings, tap Notifications, and toggle what you want. Every type has its own switch.

You can also turn on Smart timing, which moves your reminder to when you usually finish reading.

"Remind me in 1 hour"

When a notification arrives, you can tap "Remind me in 1 hour". The app reschedules that notification for one hour later. It skips quiet hours, so if it would land during quiet time, it waits until quiet hours end.

Not getting any?

If you are not getting notifications at all, check:

  • Notifications are turned on in your iPhone Settings, in the Spiritualrot row
  • In the app, go to Settings and turn on Reminders or the type you want

If that does not fix it, write to Support.
