Terms of Use (EULA)

Agreement

Spiritualrot is made by an independent developer, called Spiritualrot, we, or us on this page. These Terms of Use are the end user license agreement (EULA) for the Spiritualrot app. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Spiritualrot.

Who can use Spiritualrot

You must be at least 13 to use Spiritualrot. If you are younger than 13, you may use it only with a parent or guardian's permission, and that adult is responsible for how you use the app, including any purchase.

What Spiritualrot does

Spiritualrot uses Apple's Screen Time system to lock the apps you pick. To open them, you read a Bible passage and pray. Then they open for a while and lock again. The app also has an emergency unlock, which costs XP.

The app keeps a record, on your phone, of whether you finished reading and praying. It cannot measure sincerity, understanding, holiness, or spiritual growth, and it does not try. It is not a church or a pastor, and it does not replace reading the Bible with other people.

How the study content is made

AI tools assist in preparing study notes and suggested prayers. These materials undergo source-based checks before publication, but may still contain errors. They are not Scripture or a substitute for pastoral guidance. The app does not generate AI answers during use.

Signing up is optional

You never have to sign up to read, pray, or lock apps. What you do in the app is stored on your phone by default. Keep a passcode on your phone, because anyone who can open your phone can open the app.

If you choose to sign up with your Apple ID or Google account, we can back up your reading, XP, streak, and settings, and, only if you separately turn it on, an encrypted copy of your prayers, so you can get them back on a new phone. See the Privacy Policy page for exactly what that sends us.

What you can use without paying

You do not have to pay to read the Bible, use the study notes, pray, or use the lock and its unlocks. Spiritualrot shows no ads.

Partner subscriptions

Partner is an optional auto-renewing subscription, sold only through Apple. There are three plans: Partner weekly, which renews every week; Partner monthly, which renews every month; and Partner yearly, which renews every year. The price is the one shown in the app and in the App Store before you buy, in your own currency. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.

Your subscription renews automatically through your Apple Account for another period of the same length until you cancel. To stop the next renewal, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends. You cancel it in the Settings app on your iPhone, under your name, then Subscriptions, not inside Spiritualrot. After you cancel, Partner lasts until the end of the period you already paid for. Apple handles all billing and any refunds, under Apple's own rules. We cannot give a refund ourselves.

You can switch to a longer plan (weekly to monthly, weekly to yearly, or monthly to yearly) at any time from inside the app. Apple starts the longer plan right away and refunds the part of your old plan you had not used yet. Switching to a shorter plan happens only through Apple, in the Settings app on your iPhone, under your name, then Subscriptions, and takes effect at your next renewal, never right away.

What Partners get

Partners get cosmetic items in the app. Right now that is the Partner-only sheep look for the mascot right away while you are an active Partner, and other Partner items once their release date comes, while you are a Partner. We may add, change, or stop offering future Partner items.

Items you have received stay in the app after your subscription ends. They are stored only on your phone, so if you erase the app's data or delete the app, they are gone, and Restore Purchases may not bring them back.

No purchase unlocks the Bible, the study notes, prayer, the lock, your streak, your XP, or your rank. No purchase buys favor or standing with God.

Give more

Give more is a one-time purchase, sold only through Apple, in one of the amounts shown in the app. It is available only to an active Partner. It does not renew, does not change your Partner plan, and unlocks nothing: it never grants Partner status, the sheep look, or any other Partner item on its own. It is a purchase from an independent app maker and is not tax-deductible. Refunds are up to Apple, under Apple's own rules.

Your license to use the app

Spiritualrot is licensed, not sold, to you. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it only on Apple devices that you own or control, and only as the App Store Usage Rules allow, including their Family Sharing rules. You may not copy, resell, rent, lease, or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law says we cannot stop you.

Apple's role

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We alone, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid for the app, if any, where a refund applies. That is the most Apple must do. Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claim, loss, or cost from a failed warranty is ours to handle, not Apple's.

When you use the app, you must also follow any third-party terms that apply to you, such as your wireless carrier's. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept these terms, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Who is responsible, and export rules

We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claim from you or anyone else about the app or your use of it. That includes a claim that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, a product liability claim, a claim under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws, and a claim that the app infringes someone's intellectual property. If someone claims the app infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, will investigate, defend, settle, and resolve that claim.

You may not use or export the app in violation of United States export laws. You confirm that you are not in a country under a United States government embargo or named by the United States government as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any United States government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

What you type and share

What you type into the app stays on your phone and belongs to you. When you share a verse card, export your history, or send us a report, you choose where it goes. Do not use Spiritualrot to share anything illegal, hateful, or not yours to share.

The app is provided as is

Spiritualrot is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We work to keep it correct, but we do not promise that it is free of bugs, that every lock will hold every time, or that it fits a particular purpose. Screen Time belongs to Apple, and Apple can change how it works.

Our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.

Your consumer rights

Nothing in these terms removes rights that the law of your home country gives you and does not let you sign away, including consumer protections in the European Union and the United Kingdom. Where those protections conflict with these terms, those protections win.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the country where Spiritualrot's developer lives, without regard to its conflict of law rules, except that the consumer rights above still apply to you.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will update the date at the top of this page. How we handle data is on the Privacy Policy page.
