How do I pick or change my handle?

What a handle is

Your handle is a short, unique name, shown as @yourname under your name everywhere in Group and People. It's how friends find you in search, and nobody else can use the same one at the same time.

Pick your handle

The first time you start or join a group, the app asks you to pick one. If you already used Group before this, it asks the next time you open the tab instead.

1. Type a name
2. Wait for "It's yours if you want it"
3. Tap "Continue"

Use 3 to 20 letters, numbers, dots, or underscores, with no spaces.

Why it says I can't use one

• "Someone already has that one": pick a different one
• "That one is saved for Spiritualrot": it's on a reserved list
• "Try different words": it matches a blocked word
• "Use at least 3 letters or numbers" or "Use 20 or fewer": it's the wrong length
• "Don't start or end with a dot" or "Use one dot at a time": fix the dots

Change your handle later

1. Tap "Group", then "People"
2. Tap "Edit profile"
3. Tap your handle
4. Type a new one, then tap "Save handle"

You can change it once every 30 days.

Find someone by their handle

Type @ then their handle in search, like "@yourname". You can also search by their name.
