How do I start my first reading?

Tap "Read and pray"

1. Open Spiritualrot and go to the "Today" tab
2. Tap the red "Read and pray" button

When your apps are locked, the button also says "Unlocks your apps".

Pick the Read step

You now see two steps: Read and Pray.

You do not have to read before you pray. Pick either step first. Whichever one you finish first shows its own "Done" right away. Each step shows a small red dot until you finish it.

1. Tap the first step. It shows "Read" and today's passage, with "One short passage" under it
2. Read one card at a time
3. Tap "Continue" to go to the next card

Each card shows one idea. Start with a short opening prayer, then read the Bible passage. Observation helps you notice what the text says. Interpretation explains what it means in context. Application helps you consider how to respond.

Reading ends with "Apply what you read", not another guided prayer. Pray is a separate step, and you can finish it before or after reading.

Close it halfway? Your place is saved.

Answer the quick question

Partway through, a "MINI QUIZ" card asks one question about the passage.

1. Pick the answer that matches the passage
2. Wrong pick? Tap "Try again" and pick another
3. Right pick? Tap "Continue"

Finish the reading

1. On the last card, tap "Finish reading"
2. Tap "Claim XP"

You land back on your two steps. Read now shows "Done".

Pray to finish

1. Tap "Pray". It says "Bring a real need to God"
2. Tap "Start prayer"
3. When you are done, tap "Finish prayer"

Want "Guided" or "Own words"? Tap "Prayer choices" first and pick one, then tap "Start prayer".

Go deeper after both steps

You can read or pray first. After both steps show "Done", Today may offer "Go Deeper" for the current reading time. Tap it to return to that study and choose Go deeper. Once you claim it, or when it is unavailable, Today shows when the next reading time starts. A new reading time replaces the old reading time's button.

To return to a completed reading time, tap its row on Today. If the book has an introduction, choose About {Book} to read it. You can read that introduction again after claiming its XP. Close either extra page to return to the completed study.

These extras are optional. They can earn extra XP, but they do not add time before your apps lock again. See How do I earn XP and ranks? for the amounts and claim rules.
