How do I ring the bell and cheer someone in my group?

Short answer

Tap a member with reading to do right now for Ring the bell, or tap Cheer any time

How the daily check works

You do not tap anything to check in. The moment you finish today's reading and prayer, your group sees it. Your group's day starts at 6 AM, not at midnight.

Ring the bell for someone

  1. Tap "Group"
  2. Tap a member who still has reading to do
  3. Tap "Ring the bell"

They get a notification that says your group rang the bell for them, with a button to read now.

You can only ring someone's bell when all of these are true:

  • They still have reading to do right now
  • Nobody has already rung their bell
  • It is not the middle of the night for them

When you can't ring it, the tile tells you why instead: "No task right now", "Done today", "Bell already rung", or "Resting for the night".

Send a cheer

  1. Tap "Group"
  2. Tap a member
  3. Tap "Cheer", then pick a line to send

Cheer works any time, even for someone who is done for the day or resting for the night. You'll see "Cheer sent" for a moment, and they get a notification too.

What happens when someone rings your bell?

You see a banner at the top of Group that says your group rang the bell for you, with a button to read now. Tap it to open today's reading. It also lands in your notifications; see How do I see my notifications?.

When will I not get a bell or a cheer on my phone?

Between midnight and 5:59 AM in your own time zone, no alert comes to your lock screen. It still shows in your notifications list right away when you open the app.

Do I get asked before notifications turn on?

Yes. The first time you open Group, the app asks to turn on notifications for it.
